To Allah (s.w.t.) belong all months

According to Holy Prophet (s.a.w.), no period is liked more by Allah (s.w.t.) for good work and worship than the fi st 10 days of this month. The reward of fasti for the fi st 9 days is equal to that of fasti throughout one’s life-ti in this world. Those unable to go for Hajj and desirous of the reward of Hajj should perform 2 raka’t namaz between Namaz-e-Maghrib and Isha on the nights preceding the fi st 10 days. They should recite, in each raka’t, Surah al-Hamd followed by Surah al- Tawheed (once) and recite : “Wa-Waa adnaa Musa salaasina lailatanw wa atmamnaahaa be ashrin fatammaa miqaato rabbehi arbae’na lailatan wa qaalaa Musa le akhihe haarun-akh lufni fi qawmi wa asleh walaa tattabe’ sabilal mufsedin”. “And We appointed with Musa a ti of thirty nights and completed them with ten (more), so the appointed ti of his Lord was complete forty nights, and Musa said to his brother Haroun: Take my place among my people, and act well and do not follow the way of the mischief-makers.” (7:142) Fasti on the eight day of this month can earn forgiveness for 60 years of sinful life. Similarly spending the night preceding the 9th day of this month awake in prayers, invocati and salutati to the Holy Imams (a.s.), has its reward as that of 170 years of worship. The 9th day is known as the day of Arafah. Taking

a bath, offering salutati to Imam Husain (a.s.) offering a two rak’at Namaz after Namaz-e-Asr followed by Hazrat Ali (a.s)’s namaz (which is 2 raka’t namaz in which, after Surah al-Hamd, Surah al- Tawheed is recited 50 ti s) accompained by Salawaat, Isteghfar and Duas are strongly recommended. The famous dua of Imam Husain (a.s.) (Dua-e-Arafah) is the best supplicati recited specially on this day.

On Eid-uz-Zoha, taking bath, reciti the 48th dua from Imam Zainul Aabedin (a.s.)’s “Sahifa al- Kaamelah” before Eid Namaz, then offering Eid Namaz, reciti Dua-e-Nudba, offering a sacrifi (Sayr), reciti the special Takbir and of course, giving charity, praying for all Mo’meneen and Mo’menaat are some of the acts prescribed for this day.

The most important Eid from among the 4 major Eids is the Eid-e-Ghadeer which falls on the 18th of Zilhajj. The details can be had from Sheikh Qummi’s “Mafaati Jinaan”.
